Terms of Service

Welcome to Storybun. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Storybun, a platform for writing, reading, and collaborating on stories.

By creating an account or using Storybun, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you should not use the service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
You confirm that you have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

Future guardian-managed accounts for younger users may be introduced; if so, these Terms will be updated.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your account secure.
No duplicate accounts. No impersonation. No deceptive identities.

We may suspend or restrict accounts that violate these Terms or create security, legal, or abuse-related risks.

3. Your content

Everything you write on Storybun (“Content”) remains yours.

You grant Storybun a non-exclusive, worldwide license to store, display, and process your Content as needed to operate platform features.

You can edit or delete your Content at any time.

4. Private stories

Storybun supports private stories, which are not publicly visible.

Storybun administrators can technically access private stories through backend tools or the database, but do so only when required for:

• Moderation and violation reports
• Debugging and fixing technical problems
• Security investigations
• Legal compliance

We do not browse private stories for any other purpose.

5. Content rules

You agree not to create or share Content that includes:

• Harassment, threats, or hate
• Explicit sexual content or pornography
• Graphic violence intended to shock
• Illegal content
• Spam, AI-generated noise, or mass-produced low-effort content
• Malware or technical exploits
• Advertising or unsolicited promotions

We may remove Content or restrict accounts when necessary.

6. Platform behavior

You may not:

• Spam the platform or users
• Bypass cooldowns or protections
• Scrape, reverse engineer, or attack the service
• Misuse collaborative tools
• Use Storybun for unrelated automated tasks

7. Emails and notifications

Storybun sends transactional emails only (verification, security notices, collaboration updates).
No marketing emails at this time.

8. Donations and future subscriptions

You may optionally support Storybun through third-party donation services (e.g., Buy Me a Coffee).
Payment details never pass through Storybun.

Future subscription plans may be introduced with their own terms.

9. External communities

Storybun may link to community spaces such as Discord.
Your participation there is optional and subject to both our rules and the external platform’s rules.

10. Third-party services

Storybun uses:

• Neon (database hosting)
• Aptabase (privacy-focused analytics)
• Cloudflare R2 (internal assets such as sourcemaps)
• Email providers

These providers process data on our behalf.

11. Account deletion

Self-service account deletion is planned for the future.
Until then, you may contact us to request manual deletion.

12. “As-is” service

Storybun may experience outages, bugs, or limitations.
We do not guarantee uninterrupted service or feature availability.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms periodically. Updates will appear here with a revised “Last updated” date.
